By the time I was at location 106 of 692 (at 15% of the book) I had already found more than 7 errors. I believe this is too much and some of those errors are severe.Below I will give examples of some of the inaccuracies in this book: especially the errors numbers 5 and 6 are serious; and mistake number 7 is not only big, it is hilarious at the same time!
1) At location 38 the word 'shaggy' is given as translation for 'harig'. This is not entirely correct. The Dutch word 'harig' means 'hairy', so without the 'rough and untidy' implication the word 'shaggy' has.
2) The noun 'muis' (mouse) is both male and female, not just female as this book states. (location 52).
3) 'Native to' should be 'inheems' in Dutch, and not 'inheem'. (loc. 58)
4) Pigpen is written with a hyphen (pig-pen) at loc. 76.
5) At loc.100 the phrase: 'De geiten spelen in de wei' is translated as: 'The goat is in the meadow'. This is not correct: 'geiten' is the plural, and the verb 'spelen' means 'to play'. So the Dutch sentence should be translated as: 'The goats are playing in the meadow', or: 'The goats play in the meadow'.
6) At loc.101 'sissende slang' is wrongly translated as: 'slithering snake'. The Dutch word 'sissen' means 'hiss', the English word 'slithering' translates as 'glibberen' in Dutch.
7) At loc.106 the 'coiled rattlesnake' is wrongly translated as: 'opgewonden ratelslang', which really means: 'horny rattlesnake'.
By the time I had gotten to loc. 106 I had nearly given up on this book, it was the 'horny rattlesnake' that made me really give up and -after I stopped laughing- delete this 'Learn Dutch - Word Power 101' from my Kindle.
(Dutch is my first language and I have followed an introductory course in Dutch spelling and grammar at university. English is my second language, which I studied at pre-university level.)

Easy reading sure to please anyone interested in learning Dutch.
A word list with examples in sentences, but there are better ways to learn a language, like learning useful phrases in a reasonable context.
It is a nice book, but there are words in there I don't think Ill ever use, like eel and wool. But for the price, Im not complaining. Plenty of verbs in there to learn.
Struggled to make good use of this one.
The photos accompanying the vocabulary in this book are really quite good technically, and are very nicely illustrate the word being defined. I think the book is worth the price. Never mind those occasional translation errors cited by other reviewers though; they are few and far between. In fact, that one about "horny rattlesnake" was itself actually in error. There are many easily available online resources for hearing the pronunciation of many of the words in this book; the Dutch Wikipedia's dictionary (nl.wiktionary.org)is a good place to start. For really good examples though of Dutch pronunciations you can simultaneously read AND HEAR selected articles read to you (lots of them, as a matter of fact)in the "Gesprochen Wikipedia" Portal in the Dutch Wikipedia (nl.wikipedia.org). Some of the articles are very short (a sentence or two, a paragraph or two). A very good practice in pronunciation is to read an article out loud right along with the spoken narration. And of course, a good dictionary and grammar (for the serious student anyway, available from ) is always more than helpful. So enjoy this book and learn a little bit of Dutch ("Nederlands" taal) along the way. Tot ziens!
But after researching this product, I've changed my mind -- now I think this little book is easily worth FIVE BIG STARS !! Why? Because (1) two of the negative reviewers themselves made serious errors about the book in their negative reviews, (2) because YouTube has excellent Dutch (and Flemish) language tutorials if you want to learn Dutch (and/or Flemish/"Vlaams") pronunciations, (3) because the Dutch Wikipedia's (nl.wikipedia,.org) adjunct Dutch language dictionary (nl.wiktionary.org) has word pronunciation icons to click on, plus English translations (for most words), and finally (4) because I took the time to research the principals in the company that put this fine little book up for 'sale' on and realized that NONE of the principals had Dutch as their native language. In fact, as you can see on their website "InnovativeLanguage.com", click on "About") that the company is primarily a JAPANESE company; the financial backer of the company is Japanese, the technical advisor is an American who has been a language educator in Japan (Tokyo) for many years. So, knowing, speaking, and reading a bit of Japanese myself (including its ideographic text) I give this book the highest rating now because I can see that the Dutch/English in it is to me text written by one or more persons whose native language is neither Dutch nor English, but Japanese, a tough nut to crack. And so to give you an example of the difficulty such persons have with English (let alone Dutch) using the 'rattlesnake' example in the book, the Japanese word for "coil" in my Takahashi's romanized Japanes/English dictionaries is "guru-guru", translated by them into English as "wind a rope several and several times round a tree". Got the idea? So again, I revise my rating and give this book FIVE stars for its content -- and for the translators' efforts. Only a few mistakes, right?
